An agreement on cooperation with special economic zone “Alabuga” is signed

On October 6 the governor Andrey Nikitin and CEO of the special economic zone “Alabuga” Timur Shagivaleev signed a cooperation agreement.  The goal is to create and develop a special economic zone in Novgorod region.

«Special economic zone «Alabuga» has existed for 15 years. About 17 billion USD have been attracted within this time, about 3 billion USD of taxes have been paid to the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan. “Alabuga” is an example of a global brand, this special economic zone is known all over the world. It is considered by investors from different countries, including domestic investors. Therefore, if we focus on the experience of our colleagues, which we will certainly do, the economic effect will be quite serious. Of course, it will not come immediately. But without this we will not be able to create a basis for the future of the region”, - Andrei Nikitin noted.

The agreement signed with the SEZ "Alabuga" will help increase the level of investment attractiveness of the region in domestic and foreign business circles, stimulate the region's exports and create new jobs. Alabuga specialists will provide the region with advisory support on creating a special economic zone, help in attracting potential residents and creating the necessary infrastructure.
Timur Shagivaleev noted that Novgorod region is the first region to sign a cooperation agreement with Alabuga.

“Russia today imports products worth 220 billion USD 17 trillion rubles worth of products – it’s all our money that goes abroad. The Alabuga team analyzes niches, so we understand which companies import products and can potentially produce them in Russia. This is what determines what production facilities will be in demand at the future site in Novgorod region”, - said Timur Shagivaleev.

Recall that the regional government is currently considering the issue of creating a special economic zone of industrial production type "Novgorodskaya". It is planned on the territory of three municipalities: Novgorod and Chudovsky districts, as well as Veliky Novgorod. Five investment sites with a total area of 396 hectares have been selected for the project. The planned anchor residents, specializing in microelectronics, pharmaceuticals and glass industries, will occupy about 45% of the declared area.
