Foreign Enterprises Expand Production in Novgorod Region

Two foreign enterprises in the region producing similar products in the region are planning to expand production at the same time, according to the regional ministry of investment policy. The heads of the companies announced their plans at the Council for improving the investment climate under the governor of Novgorod region. The meeting was held the other day in the center "My Business".
The founder of Berdex Limited Maxim Vishnevsky said that the group of companies was created in 1945, the main production is located in the Netherlands and Spain. Berdex has been operating in Novgorod region since 2017, it produces equipment for transporting of animals. Over 2 million euros have been invested into the production in Novgorod region. The number of employees of the company has nearly doubled during 4 years – it grew from 15 to 29 people.
According to Maxim Vishnevsky, in 2022-2023 it is planned to expand production with a concomitant investment of 1 million euros and creation of 70 jobs, 50 of which are highly qualified engineering and blue-collar jobs. This will allow launching a series of new models of equipment for domestic producers of grain and feed and establishing export supplies to Europe. But lack of appropriate manufacturing sites in Veliky Novgorod hinders implementation of the project. Maxim Vishnevsky also noted that “Berdex” is intending to become a resident of the future special economic zone.

Gut Trailer limited, the country's largest manufacturer and exporter of trailers, faced a similar problem. Company’s founder and CEO Merdian Rudolf said that the company produces 20 pieces of equipment per month and has about 60 employees. By 2023 the owner expects to produce 60 pieces of production and to expand staff up to 190 people. To do this he needs not only premises, but also personnel and state support in terms of preferential leasing.
Andrey Nikitin instructed the relevant ministries to work out the issues of leasing and of organizing a special course on trailed equipment in one of the regional technical schools. Novgorod region development agency will handle selection of manufacturing sites for "Gut Trailer" and "Berdex". The issues raised by the enterprises will be returned to early next year after the region's application for creating a special economic zone will be considered.
