Trade representatives of the Russian Federation consulted the export potential of Novgorod companies

On July 11, trade representatives of the Russian Federation in six foreign countries: Canada, Moldova, the Netherlands, Singapore, Tajikistan and Sweden, work in the Novgorod region. The meeting of the trade representatives with the Governor Andrey Nikitin, first deputy governor of the region Veronika Minina, minister of industry and trade Ilya Malenko, heads of regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Novgorod region development agency and small business support Fund and other organizations. Andrey Nikitin briefed guests on key advantages of region. It is primarily a good geographical location and easy to use logistics.
The governor also told about work in attracting tourists into the region, training specialists for Novgorod companies in Novgorod secondary technical schools and vocational education institutions and about participation of the Novgorodians in WorldSkills competitions. Then Ilya Malenko told about the work of companies in the region and pointed out their export orientation.
The head of Novgorod region development agency Alexander Dementyev noted that the region has moved up from rank 39 to rank 14 in the national investment climate rating during the last 2 years when he was talking about investment potential of the region.

“Novgorod region was the first of Russian regions to enter the market of foreign investments. About $ 125 billion have been attracted into Novgorod economy since 1996. Such established international companies as IKEA, Hasslacher, Mondelez, UPM, Amcor, SC Jonson successfully function in the region. There are some companies which are known in Russia and abroad – “SPLAT”, organic household chemistry producer, and toy factory “Myakishi” are among them.” – told Alexander Dementyev.



Agricultural industry was also introduced to the guests. The industry includes such large manufacturers as “Novsvin”, agro-industrial holding “Belgrankorm-Velikiy Novgorod”, “Novgorod bacon”, agro-holding “Ust-Volmsky”.

“Investors` interest to agriculture in the region is still stable, especially with special measures we worked out for this sphere.     According to the results of 2018, Novgorod region occupied the leading position in some agricultural criteria – in vegeculture and in animal breeding,” added Alexander Dementyev.



The trade representatives were interested in development of transport infrastructure, particularly in construction of an airport and mooring terminals, in labour migration issues, in resettlement of compatriots and also in development strategy of Novgorod region. After panel discussion the guests visited “Krestetskaya Strochka” and “Medovy dom” (Honey House) factories.
