Results of Novgorod delegation’s business-mission to Finland

Business-mission to the Finnish Republic took place from the 22nd till the 24th of October, the head of the delegation was Veronika Minina, first vice Governor of Novgorod region.
Russian delegation included representatives of the region’s business community, innovative development institutions, government authorities.
In Finland Russian specialists held discussions with a number of Finnish manufacturing companies, industry associations, state organizations. The delegation visited timber and food productions.
The business meeting of the Novgorod delegation with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Finland Pavel Kuznetsov, as well as acting the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Finland Sergey Sinelnikov and with the experts of the Trade Representation took place on the 23rd of October in Helsinki. Presentation of investment and tourist potential of Novgorod region was held by investment policy Minister Vladimir Kuimov. During the meeting the parties agreed to establish collaboration with the organization BusinessOulu in the sphere of high technology.
During the business-mission the company “Grumant”, a manufacturer of extracts, essential oils and other products for cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, made a collaboration agreement with the companies Bonne Juomat Oy, Maukas Kala Group Oy, Skandinavian Wine and SpiritsOy. Representatives of LLC “Agromet” held a business meeting with «Fortum Corporation» and with «UPM-Kymmene Oyj».
Management of the company «Stora Enso Oyj» together with representatives of Novgorod region’s Government discussed the plans of timber investment projects in Novgorod region and the project “Wood City”, which consists in adopting an innovative technology of building wooden houses (municipal and commercial housing).
On the 24th of October Novgorod delegation visited the city of Riihimäki, where it was met by the city’s Mayor Sami Sulkko. During the meeting the parties agreed about collaboration between the Center of innovations in social sphere of Novgorod region and Finnish Association of private health workers of Riihimäki.
What concerns tourism sphere, within the business-mission the agreement was made to sign a contract with the information center of the city of Turku about visiting Novgorod region by the tourists from Finland. Veliky Novgorod was invited to join the route of Saint Olav, which goes from Norway through Denmark, Sweden and then by water to Finland. After it the route will continue in Novgorod region. Already now European colleagues are preparing the agreement about joining Veliky Novgorod to the Norwegian association of cultural routes of St. Olav. Tourist office “Novgorodian Rus” will become the operator of the project.
As the result of the business-mission the Finnish side got the invitation to visit Novgorod region next year.
