At Least 50 People Will Be Employed at Bitumen Hub Near Veliky Novgorod

It is planned to build a bitumen terminal in the village of Podberezie, Novgorod district. The investment project was introduced on March 9 at the investment council on improving the investment climate under the governor of Novgorod region.

According to the investor, CEO of TA BT North-West Ltd Alexey Ivashkov, the object will be constructed during the next two years. The volume of investment will be about 20,5 billion USD, over 50 jobs will be created. The terminal will be able to accept about 3000 tons of bitumen per day and store up to 50 thousand tons.

Alexey Ivashkov noted that the terminal near Veliky Novgorod will become the main bitumen hub in the North-West. Supplies from it will be made to the neighboring regions, Central Federal District, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.

The bitumen terminal in Novgorod region will become the third project of the TA Group Holding in constructing terminal network. The first one was “Salsk bitumen terminal” in Rostov region, the second one – “Ural”. The latter was commissioned last year and is the main bitumen hub in the Urals and Western Siberia.

When the project was discussed the question of ecology was risen. The head of Novgorod district Oleg Shakhov said that he visited both terminals of the company together with community activists, talked to the people who live near the terminals and thus got convinced that the objects are safe. Shakhov drew attention to the fact that the project does not imply the production of bitumen, only its storage and distribution.

Alexey Ivashkov in his turn emphasized that the TA Group holding has been on the market for more than 25 years and is the only one in the country with experience in the construction of high-tech bitumen terminals. Since 2016 the company has been developing own IT-decisions for bitumen terminals logistics and transportation of the product.

Finishing his speech, the investor thanked the regional government and Novgorod district administration for support.

Chairman of BEEF cooperative Oleg Bondarev also counts on the support of the government. From 2015 he has been producing marbled beef from own livestock. It is sold via own outlets, online store and partner store. Since 2017 the cooperative has united 28 farms and companies in three districts. According to Oleg Bondarev, due to the coronavirus he thought that the farm needs own grain. About 250 000 USD will be needed to purchase the equipment for its cultivation and harvesting. The regional ministry of agriculture has instruments to support such companies which are ready to invest in their development.
