A meeting with investors from the Islamic Republic of Iran was held at the My Business Centre. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Agency for Development of Novgorod Region, the Ministry of Agriculture of Novgorod Region and Novgorod District. On the investor side are representatives of Kourosh Food Industry. It is one of the largest companies in Iran with a long history of producing and supplying food and agricultural products.
Due to Iran’s climatic conditions and existing plant constraints, Kourosh Food Industry has been actively seeking new investment sites for oilseed cultivation. The investor plans to further export and process crops to sell and provide products to citizens at home. In the future, the company is ready to build an oilseeds processing plant in the Novgorod Region, where oilseeds will be cultivated.
“Convenient logistics, a large amount of agricultural land, as well as soil composition and climatic conditions suitable for growing the required crops allow the Novgorod region to compete with other regions, which are also looking forward to this company,” said Alexander Dementyev, director of the Agency for Development of Novgorod Region.
The meeting discussed the main parameters of the project, the prospects for implementation, existing support measures and the conditions for the allocation of land plots for large scale investments. The Novgorod Region is now awaiting a detailed project description and requirements for the investment site from its colleagues. This will help to further understand how the Novgorod region can still be involved in the possible production process and to think through a further plan of action.
