The first meeting of the Expert Council of the Novgorod Industrial Special Economic Zone was held. It was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the region, Evgeny Bogdanov.
“Today we will consider applications from potential SEZ residents: Prefabrika Severozapad OOO and Novgorod Electric Systems OOO. If the decision is taken to support the business plans, residency agreements will be signed with investors in the SEZ,” the Deputy Prime Minister explained.
Artur Ayupov, CEO of the Novgorod SEZ, presented the projects to the experts. For example, Prefabrika company is planning to set up production of prefab houses in the SEZ. The investment volume is 2.9 billion rubles. Launch of the production facility will create jobs for more than 280 Novgorod region residents and promote the development of housing construction and related industries not only in the region but in the whole Northwest. The plant will reach full production capacity by 2025.
Novgorod Electric Systems implements an investment project for the construction of a switchgear and transformer substations plant. The plant is scheduled to start up in 2024, with an investment of 380 million rubles. Around 70 jobs will be created at the production facility.
The members of the Expert Council unanimously supported the investors’ applications. Agreements on residency in the SEZ between the regional government and investors will be signed by the end of November.
The Special Economic Zone functions within the framework of the “Formation and Development of Modern Infrastructure in the Novgorod Region for Entities Involved in Investment and Business Activities in 2022” priority regional project. It is aimed at the increase of investment activity and support of small and medium business.
