First Novgorod SEZ Residents to Launch Production End of 2023

This was announced by Novgorod Region Governor Andrey Nikitin during his visit to the construction site of the Novgorod Industrial Special Economic Zone.

The construction of the first production building is ahead of schedule. It is located in the Trubichi rural settlement. A temporary road has been built to the site, electricity and gas are available, and a boiler house is ready to go. The infrastructure is being built at the expense of the regional budget. More than two billion rubles have been allocated for this purpose. In December, the heating circuit is scheduled to be completed, allowing work to continue over the winter.

The total area of the Novgorod SEZ is now 184.5 hectares. The area employs 150 people, more than 70% of them from Novgorod. Most of the materials are bought in the Novgorod Region, and most of the subcontractors are local. Residents, including potential residents, come and monitor the construction progress.

As a reminder, two companies have so far received resident status: Prefabrika Severozapad OOO and Novgorod Electric Systems OOO. But more than a dozen companies from the automotive, building materials, radio electronics, animal transport equipment, food and other industries have expressed interest in cooperating. For SEZ residents, regional legislation provides for tax incentives.

The plan is to attract 11 billion rubles of private investment and create more than 1,500 jobs in the region by 2028 through the implementation of resident projects.

The Special Economic Zone functions within the framework of the “Formation and Development of Modern Infrastructure in the Novgorod Region for Entities Involved in Investment and Business Activities in 2022” priority regional project. It is aimed at the increase of investment activity and support of small and medium business.
