GAGARIN Science Park Is Established in the Novgorod Region

Veliky Novgorod Machine-Building Science Park GAGARIN opened in the Novgorod district, Pankovka settlement. By order of Andrey Nikitin, Governor of the Novgorod region, Scientific and Production Concern KOMPENZ was granted the corresponding status.

The total area of the science park is almost 5 thousand square metres. The first residents of the park included Aerodrommash JSC, manufacturing launching devices, aircraft equipment, Zavod Spetsialnogo Mashinostroeniya Iskadaz LLC, manufacturing machinery and equipment for agriculture and forestry, Rivz LLC, manufacturing pipes, tubes, sleeves and hoses from vulcanised rubber.

According to Fedor Dudin, the Technopark’s supervisor and director of the Impulz JSC (part of the group), one of the park’s residents works closely with Roscosmos. So, when it came to choosing a name, it was decided to pay tribute to the first cosmonaut.

“We have plans for expansion of the area and an increase in the number of residents to ten by the end of the year,” Fedor Dudin added.

The Department for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises of the Regional Ministry of Investment Policy added that the GAGARIN Science park is the fifth in the region. They employ a total of 49 residents.

As a reminder, science park residents are exempt from property tax for 5 years. During the same period, they are allowed to pay 13.5% income tax to the regional budget instead of 17%. In addition, science park residents working with the simplified taxation system and choosing income as the object of taxation receive a two percent rate instead of six percent. According to the regional legislation, these incentives for science park residents are also valid for 5 years.

It is worth mentioning that the science parks and business incubators function within the framework of the Formation and Development of Modern Infrastructure in the Novgorod Region for Entities Involved in Investment and Business Activities priority regional project.
