Andrey Nikitin, the Novgorod Region Governor, visited the construction site of the new modern campus in Veliky Novgorod. It is located near the central campus of the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University.
Artur Ayupov, the General Director of Novgorod special economic zone, spoke about the realisation of the project. Currently, the preparatory work is underway on the construction site, and the dismantlement of the old buildings has already been carried out. Temporary roads, parking lots, electricity, video surveillance, checkpoints, construction equipment washing sites and other related infrastructure will appear here. The land plot is owned by the potential concessionaire – SEZ “Novgorod”. The work is underway to transfer the ownership of this territory to the region. Taking into account the interests of all sides, the concession agreement is being finalised, the design and survey work is also underway. The conclusion of the state expertise is expected to be received in the autumn.
In case of advanced federal financing, the construction will start in this year. According to Artur Ayupov, the project includes the construction of a residential complex of five buildings with a variable number of storeys and a multifunctional recreational facility. This complex will have a technology park, a gym, a swimming pool, a recreational zone, food courts and other facilities, where students can spend time. Also, at the land area it is planned to build a multi-storey parking site for transport.
The adjacent territory is planned to be improved: a walking area and a convenient bicycle path from the campus to the main building of Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University and dormitories will be created along the railway.
The creation of the modern campuses in the region initiative is being implemented thanks to the national project “The science and the universities”. The application of the Novgorod region for the construction of the campus was approved by the government of the Russian Federation in December last year. The total cost of the project is more than 10 billion roubles, including funds from federal and regional budgets.
