On 02 March the ninth two-day conference on interregional cooperation “Business and Investment Partnership of Russia and Tajikistan” was opened in Dushanbe. Within the business program framework seven panel sessions were held on current matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation of the countries in the area of industry, power engineering and the environment, transport and logistics, education, tourism and investments, a session of the Russian-Tajik Business Council, as well as “contact exchanges” for businessmen. Chairman of the Russian Federation Government Mikhail Mishustin took part in the plenary meeting of the Conference.
The Novgorod Region Government is represented at the event by First Deputy Governor Evgeny Bogdanov, and the business of Novgorod is represented by General Director of KAT LLC Arman Gevorkian and Deputy General Director of New Technologies LLC Andrey Goloschanov. As Vice Governor pointed out, this is an anniversary conference held on the 30th year of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Tajikistan. In the meantime, the Novgorod Region and the Republic are going through a new phase of cooperation.
“Over the last few years, the cost of products from Novgorod exported to Tajikistan has considerably increased. Interest of the Novgorod businessmen in cooperation with Tajikistan is growing. Interest in cooperation is also being expressed by representatives of the Republic’s business community,” Evgeny Bogdanov pointed out.
Readiness to expand connections with the Novgorod Region was also affirmed last March by Consul General of the Republic in Saint Petersburg Nazari Khomijon Temur during his visit to Veliky Novgorod. First of all, it concerns partnership in agriculture, industry, trade, education and tourism.
It should be noted that the conference on interregional cooperation of Russia and Tajikistan is being held at inter-government level with record-breaking number of participants for the first time. More than 600 attendees representing 265 companies and 15 regions came to the conference from Russia.
