From June 14 to June 17 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held in the Northern capital of Russia. Traditionally, the Novgorod region delegation will be present at SPIEF. It will be headed by Andrey Nikitin, governor of the Novgorod region.
This year region will show the renewed stand concept. There will be presented the largest projects: the creation of Novgorod special economic zone, new university campus, innovative scientific technological centre “Smart electronics Valdai”, the reconstruction of F. M. Dostoevsky Novgorod Academic Drama Theatre and related urban landscapes.
“Within the forum framework it is planned to sign around 30 agreements, 9 of which are investment related. They also provide for the implementation of the investment projects in the areas of the SEZ Novgorod. The total investment under all nine agreements is about 19 billion roubles, over 4,000 jobs will be created.” commented Evgeny Bogdanov, First Deputy Governor of the Novgorod Region.
Investors plan to launch the production of automotive components, aluminium profiles, transformer substations, cable and wire products, furniture components and other products.
At the same time, on the sidelines of the forum, the Novgorod region will sign several interregional agreements, consolidating cooperation with large federal organisations in the development of science and improving the quality of education in the region with the creation of a campus. There are also plans to conclude agreements aimed at training personnel for individual enterprises.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is a unique event in the world of economics and business. It has been held since 1997, and since 2006 it has been held under the patronage and with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation. The forum has become the world's leading platform for communication between representatives of the business community and discussion of key economic issues.
This year the forum’s agenda is the sovereign development as the basis for a just world. The main programme will include about 150 sessions, meetings and master classes. In the format of business dialogues, business events will be held with foreign partners - guests from India, China, the EAEU - ASEAN, Latin America and the UAE.
