Historical background
The history of the enterprise started in 1958. It was established for the purpose of organization of television production and for manufacture of the products for the Ministry of Defense – electronic warfare devices. JSC RPA Kvant forms a part of JSC “KRET” of State Corporation Rostec.
In August 1958 the plant employees developed, established and produced the first 100 TV sets “KVN-49” (the whole process took only 7 months). By the end of the year the production rate made 200 units per day. Starting from 1968 there was established the production of the most popular and successful model “Sadko”, while the output rate increased to 400 thousand units per year.
Apart from the TV sets the enterprise produced a wide range of consumer goods: from audio cassettes and VHF receiving sets to microwave ovens and satellite antennas.
At present, in compliance with the presidential decrees, the enterprise increases the percentage of civilian goods by producing LED lamps and machine-tool terminals, and also by developing rehabilitation equipment for disabled people.
Such a diversified range of civilian products arises from the specific nature of the Novgorod region. It is still one of the largest centers of the radioelectronic industry.
In 60 years of its activities the company gained invaluable experience in fulfillment of orders of the Ministry of Defense, and also in export supplies of military-technical products. The company has set up and mastered mass production of more than 30 types of specialized military equipment. Mass production of modern, high technology military equipment such as a unified ground-based multifunctional Anti-Spoofing Module 1L269 (2012), a warfare suit of automation of the battalion command control centers EW-C and control points of the company of radio interference 1L267 (2015) has been a particularly significant event over the last years.
In 2003 Kvant was granted a right to independently carry out foreign trade activity related to ensuring complex servicing of previously supplied equipment. Over the last fifteen years the company has received official applications from 193foreign customers, and has performed 34 export contracts. The products manufactured by the enterprise are in high demand in the countries of Europe, Asia and Africa.
As JSC RPA Kvant celebrated its anniversary, it completely upgraded its production within the frame of the target-oriented Federal program of military-industrial complex reforming. High quality of the products is achieved owing to state-of-the-art closed-circle equipment. It is installed in the procuring, stamping, machining, welding, frame assembly, galvanic, varnish-and-paint, plastics processing, assembly, machine-assembling, adjustment, tool-making and non-standard equipment production units. The company has a testing center and a testing facility. In 2015 it opened a printed-circuit board production unit.
These achievements result from the long-term well coordinated work of all members of the staff of Research and Production Association Kvant. The enterprise is known for its labour dynasties and traditions, and pays great attention to the development of young specialists whom it trains from school.
Starting from 2012 the company has been implementing an employer-sponsored education program within the framework of which there were concluded over 100 enrolment contracts at higher technical educational establishments, while 20 young professionals became the winners of various All-Russian competitions.
High technical and technological level, competitiveness of the manufactured military purpose products deserved recognition and were duly acknowledged at prestigious exhibitions and salons. Among such exhibitions one can name organized by the Ministry of Defense of Russia International military-technical forum “Army”, International Asian Exhibition of Arms and Military Machinery (Malaysia), International Exhibition of Weapons Systems and Military Equipment held in Russia within the frame of the International Forum “Technologies in Engineering”, International Aviation and Space Salon (IASS) and the International Exhibition of the Defense Industry (Poland).
Military and civilian products of the company have won quite a number of various diplomas and awards. Based on the results of foreign economic activities, RPA “Kvant” has won the contests arranged by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation twice in the nomination “Russia’s best industry exporter to the CIS countries – defense industry”.
“Kvant” has been and remains one of the leaders in the field of creation of state-of-the-art high-technology radioelectronic products for military and civilian usage, and makes a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s national defense power.
