One of the largest deals made at the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was an agreement with Group of Companies Natsproektstroy JSC worth RUB 12 billion for the plant construction. The issue is the production of reinforced concrete products for the Moscow – St. Petersburg high-speed railway.
The new plant is going to produce reinforced concrete slabs required for the ballastless superstructure of the high-speed railway, as well as an elastic layer of polymer material that is applied to these slabs. The plant will become a key supplier of these components for the high-speed rail project, providing up to two-thirds of the annual demand for slabs for overpasses and tracks.
“The creation of a modern plant in the Novgorod Region is an important step in the development of our economy and a key element in the construction of the high-speed railway. We are pleased that we will be producing a significant portion of the materials for the construction of such an important highway. This will attract additional investment, create new highly skilled jobs and give impetus to the development of related industries,” Alexander Dronov, Acting Governor said.
The plant will have a high production capacity, allowing it to annually produce more than 100 thousand assembly units and 262 thousand cubic meters of reinforced concrete, and produce more than 3.6 million square meters of elastic layer. These volumes will cover a significant portion of the demand of materials for the construction of the high-speed railway.
“Building the first high-speed railway in the country is a powerful impetus for the development of the entire domestic transport industry. The project requires high-tech solutions both at the construction stage and in terms of the production of materials and components. The plant in Veliky Novgorod will become exactly such an innovative platform, where we plan to automate a significant part of the production process,” Alexey Krapivin, CEO of Natsproektstroy Group of Companies JSC, said.
