The Entrepreneurship Day took place on 27 February in Moscow as part of the Russia Exhibition and Forum. The stand of the Novgorod Region was visited by more than 2 thousand people, including entrepreneurs, as well as Moscow residents and guests of the capital not involved in business. A rich programme was prepared for everyone including performances by Novgorod actors, quests on the history of entrepreneurship, smart games and coin minting.
“Today is the big day. Our colleagues have been working at the stand since the very morning, communicating with guests. We get our visitors acquainted with our business and Novgorod products. Special attention is paid to support of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. Small and medium-sized businesses provide employment for people and generate tax revenues. Over the last two or three years, the number of entrepreneurs in the region has almost doubled, mostly due to self-employment. The implementation of such a tool at the federal level is a significant breakthrough for small businesses. Firstly, those who were in the shadow started to work officially. There are also individual entrepreneurs who have become self-employed. They have chosen a better taxation system for themselves. The immediate task, which was set today by the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Gennadyevich Reshetnikov, is to communicate closely with entrepreneurs and business community, in order to understand what additional tools will allow small businesses to develop and turn into medium and large businesses,” commented Evgeny Bogdanov, First Deputy Governor of the Novgorod Region, who attended the stand.
The Entrepreneurship Day was one of the central events of the two-day My Business Forum. As part of its business programme, over 400 heads of regional authorities and My Business Centres from 89 regions worked on the development of SME support strategies.
“The Forum programme included 15 panels with over 60 speakers, both from My Business Centres and external organisations. The participants of the events defined the strategic objectives and approaches for the development of the SME sector for 2024. Also within the framework of the My Business award there was a presentation of 55 best support practices from 32 regions in 16 nominations,” noted Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Tatyana Ilyushnikova.
The My Business Centre in Novgorod with the Business Worth the Million project was shortlisted for the award in the nomination The Best Case for Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship. Evgenia Alekseeva, Deputy Director of the Novgorod Region Development Agency, which supervises the My Business Centre, told the forum participants about the project. As a reminder, the Business Worth the Million startup competition was held in the Novgorod Region for the first time in 2023, including under The Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Presidential National Project.
According to Denis Nosachev, Minister of Investment Policy of the Novgorod Region, the forum made it possible to get acquainted with the best practices of other regions, exchange experience, and ask questions to representatives of federal authorities and business support institutions.
The Forum participants also discussed the development of creative industries, personnel policy, enhancing the prestige of entrepreneurial activity, financial tools, digital services and others.
It should be added that the My Business Forum was organised by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. The general partners are the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region and Promsvyazbank PJSC.
The programme of the Entrepreneurship Day at the stand of the Novgorod Region was prepared by the My Business Centre with the assistance of the regional Ministry of Investment Policy under the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Presidential National Project. It was initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
