The Novgorod Export Support Centre organised a visit to the region for two Chinese companies – a food importer and a distributor. On September 30, the guests got acquainted with Novgorod producers of sweets, tea, meat products and semi-finished products at the My Business Centre.
Welcoming the guests, Denis Nosachev, Minister for Investment Policy of the Novgorod Region, emphasised that the region has been actively cooperating with the People’s Republic of China for many years.
“In the first half of this year, the region’s exports to China have already exceeded the 2023 totals, totalling more than $21 million. The value of exports has tripled compared to the first half of 2023. This is due to increased supplies of food, timber and timber products and fertilisers to the Republic. 14 organisations with Chinese capital are registered and operating in the Novgorod Region. This shows that the region as a whole, and Novgorod businessmen in particular, are determined to cooperate with the People’s Republic of China,” says Denis Nosachev.
The importance of the region’s partnership with China is also emphasised by the position of the Governor of the Novgorod Region. In 2023, Andrey Nikitin led a business mission to China, and in May this year he presented the region at the Russia-China Expo.
For its part, the Chinese side is also determined to develop close relations.
“Our hope is for long-term cooperation and the development of Russian-Chinese trade. Our company is focused on selling high-quality Russian products in China. We are promoting it, including among students and through online venues,” says Liu Yitong, CEO of Lianshui Chunhe Jingming Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd.
Chin Wei, CEO of Fandong International Supply Group Co. LTD, is not only considering importing Novgorod goods, but is also ready to discuss the possibility of establishing representative offices of Russian companies in China.
By the end of the year, the Novgorod Export Support Centre will also organise a visit to the region for representatives of the Moroccan business community. Business missions to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are planned for October and November. With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Centre organises events for entrepreneurs within the framework of the President’s national projects “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise” and “International Cooperation and Export”.
