Following the implementation of the International Cooperation and Export National Project in 2023, the Novgorod Region was among the 29 leading regions in the implementation of the Regional Export Standard 2.0. The Russian Export Centre specified that the region has ensured the implementation of all 15 tools of the Standard, while only 13 tools are mandatory.
“The Russian Export Centre highly appreciates the region’s contribution to the development of export potential, considers the Novgorod Region as a strategic partner in ensuring the effective functioning of federal and regional mechanisms for supporting non-resource non-energy exports and looks forward to further effective co-operation in the field of export activities,” says the REC letter signed by Director General Veronika Nikishina.
This year, the region will again have to implement the tools of the Standard. Similar to last year, the target value is 13.
“As of today, the work on 3 items of the Standard has been completed. These tools relate to regulations that formalise export development in the region. The other instruments involve a wide range of activities. For example, we will continue to support exporters financially. In summer, we will start accepting applications for partial subsidising of costs of the first export delivery and employee training. The Novgorod Foundation for Small Business Support offers exporters concessional loan at 3%. Assistance with promotion in regional and foreign media is one of the components of comprehensive support for export-oriented organisations. The Novgorod Export Support Centre has prepared interesting and useful events, including training activities. The Centre will provide services on business matching, certification, participation in international exhibitions and many others,” Denis Nosachev, Minister of Investment Policy of the Novgorod Region commented.
Additionally, the Regional Export Standard 2.0 contains recommendations for creating similar favourable conditions in the constituent entities to encourage businesses to export. In 2019, the Novgorod Region was among the pilots entities that have successfully implemented the Standard. The region was also among the 22 entities having implemented the first edition of the Standard from 2017.
