Production Building of the Novgorod Special Economic Zone is Fully Occupied by Residents

This was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin by the Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrey Nikitin. A working meeting was held on September 9.

“We are a year ahead of schedule with the Special Economic Zone. Do you remember that in 2018, when the moratorium was in place, I approached you and asked you to call it off? The first three residents are already there, even though the schedule allows us one more year. And next year, GigaFactory will come in and we will be assembling TVs and smart devices. That is, we are doing well here,” emphasised Andrey Nikitin.

The first production building of the Special Economic Zone was opened on June 12 this year. It is 100% occupied by residents, three of whom have already started production. In total, there are 11 residents in the Special Economic Zone today. They will organise more than 1,500 jobs.

As a reminder, the Novgorod Special Economic Zone was established by the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation on July 8, 2021. It was built and is being developed by the Government of the Novgorod Region using the expertise of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Novgorod Special Economic Zone operates within the framework of the top-priority regional project “Creation and Development of Modern Infrastructure for Subjects of Investment and Business Activities in the Novgorod Region”. It is aimed at increasing investment activities, support of small and medium sized enterprises, and achieving the goals of the National Project “Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise”.
