The Novgorod Region Strengthens Cooperation with the Republic of Belarus

On October 10, in Veliky Novgorod, at the "My Business" Center, a briefing was held on the results of a business mission to the capital of Belarus, Minsk. The Novgorod delegation included, among others, First Deputy Governor of the Region Evgeniy Bogdanov, Rector of Novgorod State University named after Yaroslav the Wise Yuriy Borovikov, representatives of 15 enterprises of the region and the Novgorodskaya SEZ.
According to Evgeny Bogdanov, the region has a long-standing and fruitful cooperation with Belarus. Foreign trade turnover with the Republic is steadily growing. Last year, exports increased by a quarter. Compared to the first half of 2024, exports in January-June 2025 increased almost twofold.

- Belarus is a very important country for us. The business mission has two components. The first is our meetings with government officials. We visited enterprises and technology parks, as well as the INNOPROM.BELARUS industrial exhibition.  A "road map" was signed for the next three years to implement the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Novgorod Region on cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, and socio-cultural spheres. The second component was the negotiations between our entrepreneurs on the sidelines of the exhibition, as well as in the offices and production facilities of Belarusian enterprises. These negotiations were productive. For example, the Novgorod manufacturer of juices under the NAR brand plans to sign a contract in November of this year and deliver the first batches of its products to the largest Belarusian retail chains in December," Evgeniy Bogdanov told to reporters.

Entrepreneurs confirm the importance and effectiveness of the business mission. Alexander Muravyev, Technical Director of Techbionik LLC, noted that the exhibition allowed him to get acquainted with relevant novelties.

- We develop, produce, and sell bionic, multifunctional upper limb prostheses. We were organized negotiations with Belarusian enterprises that work in the field of providing disabled people with technical means of rehabilitation. Special thanks for the meeting with the management of the Belarusian Prosthetic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center. Our products aroused interest among Belarusian colleagues. We decided to continue working together in the future," said Alexander Muravyov.

Alexander Satin, General Director of Transvit Group LLC, in turn, noted that the company's extensive experience made it possible to refer to already implemented projects during negotiations.

- Contacts were established on the available products, and we received a request for the types of products that we are ready to develop and produce. We are talking about generating devices that contain a large cell capacity and the necessary supply in the absence of power supply to large facilities. We are also building partnerships with companies that develop and install network chargers for electric vehicles. This is a large emerging market. Undoubtedly, the business mission was a success. It will allow us to increase our export volumes," said Alexander Satin.

Yuri Borovikov spoke about the results of the business mission for the university. NovSU and the Belarusian National Technical University discussed the management of a joint venture, Medtekhsoyuz LLC. It will become a resident of the Valdai Research and Technology Center. The company will produce biocompatible materials and medical instrumentation. The parties also agreed to implement a joint master's program. NovSU will implement a 1+1 master's program with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. The program will focus on the study of electronics. Cooperation with the Belarusian State University includes joint archaeological expeditions and technical projects.

In addition, NovSU, together with its Belarusian partners, is implementing a project to supply side-view radars to the National Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems in Belarus. NovSU traditionally holds the annual Winter University event. As part of the national project "Youth and Children," approximately 50 Belarusian students from leading technical universities such as BMSTU and BUIR will participate in the event.

Earlier this year, the Novgorod Region Development Agency organized business missions to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Vietnam. The Novgorod Export Support Center held two business missions to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. A business mission to China is scheduled for early November.

Business missions contribute to the development of the region's foreign economic activity and business exports. The organization of business trips aligns with the goals of the national projects "International Cooperation and Export" and "Efficient and Competitive Economy".
