The First Deputy Governor of the Novgorod Region, Evgenii Bogdanov, held a working meeting with Mrs. Neelam Rani, Consul General of India in St. Petersburg, at the My Business Center. The event was also attended by Yulia Timofeeva, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Novgorod Region.
According to the First Deputy Governor, India is an important partner for Russia as a whole and for the Novgorod Region in particular. At the end of 2022, a business mission to India took place, during which the region was presented at the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation, meetings with relevant companies were organized. Then the Novgorod delegation visited the construction site of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, which was supplied by the Novgorod business group of companies Splav.
The Novgorod Region is developing foreign economic relations with India, cooperating in the field of education and culture. We are working closely with the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum, Ratish Nair, and the Russian House in Trivandrum," says Evgenii Bogdanov.
Neelam Rani believes that the Novgorod Region and India have a high potential for developing economic and cultural ties. The republic is a major importer of fertilizers and timber, while the Novgorod Region actively exports them. The Consul General also expressed her readiness to explore the possibility of attracting professional personnel to the Novgorod region and implementing joint projects in the fields of sports and culture. Evgenii Bogdanov confirmed his willingness to cooperate in all areas. He added that the region would welcome the visit of Indian entrepreneurs and is open to considering the possibility of organizing a new business mission to the Republic.
During the two-day visit, Neelam Rani also met with Indian students and the leadership of NovSU, and visited the Novgorod Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This is Neelam Rani's first visit to Veliky Novgorod as Consul General. She admitted that the capital of the region was struck by its beauty and a large number of historical sights.
